I have developed psoriasis since starting on infliximab Aug 09, which is getting worse.Sad
The hospital team have suggested changing to either Enbrel or Rituximab – and sent me away with info. I’ve read it all but still feel unsure about a change. Should I just put up with the (unsightly and itchy) skin trouble?
The infliximab has been fantastic and very effective. I am very nervous about changing in case the new treatment doesn’t work as well.
I really really don’t want to go back to how I felt pre-infliximab.Scared
I think I’ve heard (but not from the hospital or in the literature!) that Rituximab is not very effective for sero-negative patients? I fall into this category.
Has anyone else had to make this choice?
Can anyone help and send me a link where I can get more complete info about the drug alternatives rather than the leaflets, which don’t seem to state any negative things.
I know someone on here will have experience?!

Thanks
Beth

Hi Beth

Sorry to hear things are difficult at the moment, I m afraid I can t really help you unfortunately. I have been on infliximab since early November and have been all over the place since then having a very bad flare up ( not sure if you can call it a flare as I have never actually got it under control as yet ). However I have had terrible itching, almost torture at times eventually turning to scabs all across my back. I wasn t offered good treatment by my GP, didn t really appreciate how bad it was - nothing new ! There was a post the other day about itching and antihistamine, I m not sure if this would be an option ?
Keep us posted on how things go for you.

Hi Beth
Sorry your suffering so much with psoriasis its typical when you find something that works for you! Nothings straightforward... Im waiting to start infliximab and really dont know much about it (only had a leaflet). Im sero negative too and was also told rituximab not suitable for me so cant really offer any advice, although im sure someone on here will, hope you get some answers soon.
Take care Ceri xx
